LEP 2000 IMI Inc, Toronto for the last 10 years was extremely effective in the treatment of acute soft tissue injuries e.g., crush injuries, contusions, sprains and strains. There is an immediate decrease in edema and pain post treatment. It appears to minimize the bleeding into the tissues resulting in faster healing with minimal bruising. LEP 2000 is also very useful in conditions of a more chronic nature and is chosen over other modalities for its effectiveness in the treatment of chronic pain, Lateral Epicondylitis, Achilles Tendonitis and Plantar Fascitis. A double blind clinical trial that our hospital participated in revealed that sub-acute and chronic pain was reduced by 40% after 2 LEPT sessions. In the study LEPT was found to be 4 times more effective for pain relief than ultrasound.
